Maaike Canrinus, M.A., C.Psych.

(she/her)

Maaike is a school and clinical psychologist, and owner/director of Riverwise Psychological Services. Maaike is committed to helping children, adolescents, and families when they feel stuck. She believes that providing effective service means supporting families to better understand their child, so that they can feel empowered to move forward and if necessary, make positive changes in their lives. Maaike provides psychological assessments, psychotherapy, and consultation, and also enjoys offering workshops to parents and schools.

Maaike completed her M.A. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Guelph, and has completed additional training in psychological assessment, cognitive behavioural therapy, and emotion-focused family therapy. She is also in the final stages of completing her doctoral degree in Counselling Psychology (School Psychology focus) at University of Toronto.

Maaike lives in Barrie with her family and loves to read and be active outdoors in her spare time.

Jessica Piitz, M.Sc., C.Psych.

(she/her)

Jessica is a school psychologist who sees children and adolescents for psychological assessments at Riverwise Psychological Services. She uses a strengths-based approach when working with children and adolescents, and she believes that discovering one’s cognitive and learning profile allows for focused home and school-based strategies for ongoing support.

Jessica completed her Master of Science (M.Sc.) in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary. She has worked in a variety of educational and clinical settings in Alberta and Ontario, and while living abroad in Australia. She specializes in the assessment of Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), intellectual disabilities, behavioural challenges, anxiety and mood disorders.

In her free time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her children and husband, reading, and cooking.

Pat Veleno, M.Ed., C.Psych Assoc.

(he/him)

Pat has worked with children, youth, and adults for over twenty years. A significant portion of his career was spent working as a behaviour consultant, providing consultation to family members and professionals supporting individuals with various developmental needs.

Pat completed his M.Ed. in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary. He now specializes in the assessment of learning disabilities, attention disorders, intellectual disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder. He also remains active in providing training and educational workshops to social service agencies within Ontario and serves as Program Coordinator and faculty within the Behaviour Science certificate program at Humber College.

At Riverwise, Pat provides assessment services to children and adolescents. In his spare time, Pat enjoys relaxing outside with family and friends, usually over a good meal. You will otherwise find him enjoying nature trails, listening to his favorite music, or taking part in fitness activities.

Laura Stevens,

M.Sc., C.Psych

Laura is a school and clinical psychologist who sees children and adolescent for psychological assessment at Riverwise Psychological Services. She also provides parent consultation. Laura uses a strength-based approach and believes that everyone has unique strengths and challenges. She believes by focusing on strengths (or “superpowers”), while accepting challenges, any individual can successfully achieve their goals. Laura is also passionate about having families and individuals truly understand the results of a psychological assessment.

Laura completed her M.Sc. in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary. She now specializes in the assessment of learning disabilities, social-emotional disorders, attention disorders, intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. Previously, Laura has worked in a residential treatment program, and as a psychometrist at Alberta Health services. Laura has had almost ten years experience in a school board, where she continues to work part-time.

In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time with her two young daughters and her husband, going to the beach, stand up paddle boarding, snowboarding, and just being outdoors. Laura’s Christian faith is also an integral part of her life and she is an active participant at her local church.

Quintina Wiens (she/her)

Quintina joined the team at Riverwise as an Administrative Assistant early in 2023 and brought with her a wealth of experience. A Graduate with Honours from the Georgian College Book Keeping program, Quintina has extensive experience as a manager in the hospitality industry, and spent many years as a team leader in the aviation industry. Quintina has always loved roles involving interpersonal relationships and customer facing interactions, and is enjoying her ability to be part of a team that is focused on helping people.

As a wife and mother of two lovely daughters, she loves to find time for yoga, biking, hiking, and is an active member of the children's school council. Quintina's dinner parties are also known to be legendary.

Chantelle Quesnelle, M.Sc., C. Psych.

Throughout her career in children’s mental health, Chantelle has supported children, youth, and families in various settings. She believes that we can all build the skills we need in order to flourish, through better awareness and understanding of individual strengths and needs. In her client-centered approach, Chantelle values the relationship with the individuals and families she supports and strives to create an atmosphere of comfort and ease no matter the referral reason.

Chantelle completed her M.Sc. in Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary. She has also completed additional coursework in psychological assessment and school-based interventions, cognitive behavioural therapy, emotion focused skills training, and mindfulness based approaches for children. Chantelle provides psychological assessments and psychotherapy at Riverwise Psychological Services.

Chantelle lives in Simcoe County with her family and is humbled by the difficult role of being a parent to two wonderful boys. You will find her outside, doing yoga, fly fishing, and adventuring in her free time.

Alexa Morden, M.A.,

(she/her)

Alexa is passionate about working with children and youth to help them discover their unique skills and abilities. She has worked as a psychometrist in academic research, private practice settings, and a school board. Alexa is a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP).  At Riverwise, Alexa works as a psychometrist, supporting our assessment clients. She also helps to coordinate service to schools in our community.

Alexa holds two masters degrees. She completed her M.A in Psychology, with a specialization in Behavioural and Cognitive Neuroscience, as well as her M.Sc in Child Life and Pediatric Psychosocial Care. 

Alexa lives in Muskoka with her husband and daughters. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring nature.  

 

Dr. Larissa Panetta, Ph.D., C.Psych (Supervised Practice) (she/her)

Dr. Panetta is a school and clinical psychologist who sees children and adolescents for assessments and therapy. She has over a decade of experience working with a diverse range of youth in terms of age, intersectional identities, settings, and presenting concerns. She uses a developmental, family systems, and diversity-informed lens to help her clients meet social and learning goals.

Dr. Panetta completed her Master’s and doctorate degrees in Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology at the University of Guelph. She has a strong interest in supporting neurodiversity. She has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other neurodivergent disorders/developmental disabilities. She is passionate about bridging the gap in understanding between activist communities and the profession of psychology. She enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time in nature with her dog, Chloe.

While completing her period of supervised practice, Dr. Panetta is supervised by Maaike Canrinus.
